Forging Paths: Lassle Ranch Simmentals

Rooted in Tradition, Growing with Innovation

With roots dating back to the 1950s, Lassle Ranch Simmentals has been a cornerstone of the Glendive community for generations. What began as a small herd took a significant turn when Clay Lassle attended a course on artificial insemination. Inspired by what he learned, Clay made the decision to build a registered herd, laying the foundation for decades of continued growth.

Through the use of artificial insemination and embryo transfer programs, the ranch has gained access to genetics that would have otherwise been out of reach. Clay’s daughter, Sarah Thorson, credits these innovations with helping them strengthen and diversify their operation.

Sarah also highlights the role Bravera has played in supporting their growth. “Bravera has really helped us secure grazing land so we could grow and expand,” she said. “They’ve been a great partner for us.”

Today, Lassle Ranch Simmentals remains a proud family-run business. Sarah and her husband, Ryan, have returned to work full time alongside Clay and his wife Marianne, raising their two daughters on the ranch. Clay and Marianne's other children will frequently return to pitch in as well—whether it’s for branding season or their annual bull sale.

We’re proud to support Lassle Ranch Simmentals as they continue to grow and carry their legacy forward.
